Along the Sound Path - Sulla via del suono
A documentary by Sara Maino
This film tells a part of my life. And although much has changed since it was filmed, it represent's a big part of my life. We are what we have lived, and I feel a lot of gratitude for how life has brought me on this path of sound.
Filmed between 2020 and 2024, it follows a journey shaped by music, listening, and the search for a deeper connection with sound, both within and beyond myself.
A long time ago, when I was twelve years old, I travelled to India for the first time with my family. During that journey, I took a photograph of a path leading into a vast Himalayan landscape. I remember standing there, feeling that the path was already there, already given, yet unknown, revealing itself only step by step.
That image has stayed with me ever since.
In many ways, this film unfolds along that same intuition:
a life path that cannot be fully seen, but that continues to reveal itself through experience, through listening, through sound.
Over the years, my journey has moved between different places, cultures, and forms of expression. At its core, however, something has remained, like an invisible thread.
For me, that thread is sound.
“Along the Sound Path” is not only a documentary about music, but about a way of being, of learning, and of relating to life as an ongoing process of discovery.
I am deeply grateful to Sara Maino for holding this story with such sensitivity.
